Welcome to Gravesend Borough Band's website.

Gravesend Borough Band are a concert band composed of around 30 friendly amateur players, with a wide range of ages. The band has existed for over 135 years, and we feel proud to have this history behind us.

Over the years we have been known by various names: Gravesend Borough Band; Gravesend Town Band; Gravesend Town Prize Band; Gravesend Town Silver Band, and even Gravesend Town Silver Prize Band. From Gravesend Corporation minutes, in the early years we appear to mainly be known as the Town Band, but with the full range of other names also being used. For many years now we have solely been called Gravesend Borough Band.

We are based in Gravesend, Kent, England, although our members are not all local, with some regularly travelling around 20 miles to practice with us.

During the course of a year we play concerts both locally, and on bandstands in and around Kent and Sussex. We vary our programme from one concert to the next and our repertoire includes selections and themes from shows and films, popular light music, and marches. A list of our forthcoming concerts can be found here.

We practice once a week and are always on the lookout for new members (as are most local bands), so if you are able to play, used to play while at school and are interested in starting again, or know someone else who may be interested, please find out more about joining us.

We also have a training band primarily aimed at encouraging young musicians.

For more details of our aims and objectives please click here.

Please explore our site, we hope you enjoy it.
We also now have a Facebook page. There's not much there at the moment (02/04/2012), but please pay it a visit, upload photos, leave comments, "like" us.

If you would like to book us to play a concert; have any questions; comments; have spotted any errors or typos; or have suggestions for improvement etc. please feel free to contact us.
